EARLY OUT WEDNESDAYS
We will have NOT have Early Out Wednesday on 11/19/25.
A good rule of thumb to remember: If school is in session for five days in a week, we will have an Early Out Wednesday. If we are out of school any day in a week, we will not release early on that Wednesday.
HG SAFE ROOM PROCEDURES (School Hours)
Severe Weather Procedures:
In our continued effort to ensure the safety of all students, we have established the following procedure in the event of severe weather, including tornado warnings:
Tornado Sirens: When the tornado sirens sound and a severe weather warning is issued, all students and staff will immediately take shelter in the Safe Room.
Checkouts Suspended: During this time, staff will not be available to check students out from school. Please note that no checkouts will occur while we are in shelter.
Releasing Students: Once we have received the "all clear" and students are returned to their classrooms, we will begin allowing students to be checked out. This process will resume as soon as it is safe.
Sheltering During Dismissal: If severe weather coincides with dismissal time, all students and staff will remain in the Safe Room until it is deemed safe to resume normal activities. We will begin dismissal as soon as it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize student safety during these critical situations.
HG SAFE ROOM PROCEDURES (Non-School Hours)
Tornado Warning (including siren activation):
In the event of a Tornado Warning, the Safe Room will be opened for the community, contingent on key personnel availability. Residents will be notified via the HGSD Website and Facebook page when the Safe Room is open.
Community Access:
Residents will enter from Highway 229 through the gate between Harmony Grove Middle School and the Multipurpose Building.
Post-Severe Weather:
Room will remain open until the NWS cancels or allows the watches/warnings to expire at which time all occupants will be asked to leave.
Service Animals
Only service animals are permitted. The service animal shall be kept under the owner 's control at all times with food, water and cleaning supplies to be provided by the owner.
Companion animals and other pets are not allowed in the Safe Room.
BELL TO BELL - NO CELL
Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, Harmony Grove School District will follow the Arkansas Bell to Bell, No Cell Act. This means: No personal devices (phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, etc.) from the first bell to the last bell. Exceptions will be made for documented medical conditions (IEPs/504s), emergencies, and approved extracurriculars.
